WELCOME TO ROCK 'N ROCK ACRES

Home of Quality Quarter Horses with Exceptional Minds

About Us - The Bishop's

Rendal and I both had dreams when we first met, just about 20 years ago, that were very similiar. We both wanted to have some horses. We both liked to ride, and we both enjoyed being around animals. This was the beginning of Rock 'n Rock Acres, and our Quality Quarter Horses.

Rendal and Marti Bishop

We both had families of our own before we met, Rendal having three kids, and Marti with one. Then we were blessed to have one child together. Our children with the exception of the youngest are scattered throughout the province, and we don't get to see them nearly as much as we'd like to.

We started our broodmare herd, with a solid black mare Rene. She was used for roping and was a solid 1D barrel racing horse. We retired her, and thus the Brood Mare herd began. By trial and error we have added, what we think are some exceptional mares, to make the herd that we have today. It's all a learning process, and as the saying goes "You're never too old to learn." Hopefully we'll keep learning, added and changing so that our horses will speak for themselves.

We have areas on our place that is brushy, some swampy land, as well as fenced and cross fenced with barb wire. Our foals do have some imprint training within the first days - then they are turned out with their mothers till fall. We want them to be able to be a horse, and to be able to look after themselves. In fall we bring them in and wein; then after the stress of weining is gone they are halter broke and handled. During their first winter of life, we feel that it's very important that they are grained and fed quality hay. Just to give the foals that extra boost.
